\ Here is Cats in the Cradle as I found it in Nevada. There are some pretty weird
chords in it and I don't know what they are. Could someone post them or mail
them to me? It is much appreciated.
Is there a list somewhere of weird chords?
Thanks

Cat's In The Cradle                                Words and music by
                                                   Harry Chapin and Sandy Chapin

As published in "Harry Chapin: A Legacy in Song"
                 (c) 1987 Cherry Lane Music Co., Inc.
IMHO, this is a better version that the simplified version that was/is on
ftp.nevada.edu.

TAB: each space represents an eigth note

The music says CAPO 8 (key of F) but I usually play it CAPO 5 (key of D),
since that's in my range.

Oh babe I hate to go.

There's so many times I've let you down,
So many times I've played around.
I tell you now that they don't mean a thing.
Every  place I'll go I'll think of you.
Every song I'll sing, I'll sing for you.
When I come back I'll bring your weddingring.

So kiss me....

Now the time has come I'm leaving you.
Just one more time let me kiss you.
Then close your eyes and I'll be on my way.
You can dream about the days to come,
when I won't have to leave alone,
about the times when I won't have to say.

And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep."

And when he'd finished speakin' he turned back toward the window.
Crushed ou his cigarette and faded off to sleep.
And somewhere in the darkness the gambler he broke even.
But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep.

You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
G            D                          A
know when to walk away and know when to run.

          D     Em/A D                 G              D
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
                 G          D        A                 D
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.

[Slide capo to 2nd fret]

D                            G             D
Ev'ry gambler knows that the secret to survivin'

'Cause ev'ry hand's a winner and ev'ry hand's a loser,

And when he'd finished speakin', he turned back towards the window,
crushed out his cigarette and faded off to sleep.
And somewhere in the darkness the gambler, he broke even.
But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep.
