music john denver medley 5

here were a few errors in the previous submission of this tab (under the
band name "The Jakes"), so I posted my corrected version of it.

In this song, some of the chords are the same, just with different
fingerings, so I marked the different ones with an asterisk (*).

Calypso John Denver
        A                                 A6
To sail on a dream, on a crystal blue ocean,
        A7                              A                 Bm/A
To ride on the crest of a wild raging storm,
         A                               A6
To work in the service of life and the living,
          A7                   A                              Bm/A
In search of the answers to questions unknown --
              A                                       A6
To be part of the movement and part of the growing,
Amaj7               A                  Em7/A
Part of the beginning to understand --

  D                               A
Aye, Calypso, the places you've been to
            D                           A                   E                A
The things that you've shown us, the stories you tell!
   D                       A
Aye, Calypso, I sing to your spirit
           D                       A                   E7               A
The men who have served you so long and so well

                  E               D       A
Hi - dee-- ay -- ee -- ooo
              E               D                A         E          D     A
Do-dle-oh-ooo do do do do do do-dle ay-ee

Do-dle-ay-ee

                    A                                     A7
Like the dolphins to guide you, you bring us beside you
       A7                                       A               Bm/A
To light up the darkness and show us the way
           A                                       A6
For though we are strangers in your silent world,
    Amaj7           A                                       Bm/A
To live on the land we must learn from the sea
             A                           A6
To be true as the tide and free as a wind swell
Amaj7           A                     Em7/A
Joyful and loving and letting it be

[chorus]

[Am] Fly Away [D7] , [Am] fly away [D7], fly [G] away [D7sus4]
[G] Life  in  the  city  can  make  you  crazy
For  sounds  of  the  sand  and  the [D7sus4] sea
[G] Life  in  a  high  rise can make you hungry
For  things  that  you  cant  even  [D7sus4] see

[Am] Fly  Away [D7] , [Am] fly away [D7], fly [G] away [D7sus4]

***  [Am] In  this  whole  world  there's [Bm]  nobody as lonely  as [CaddD] she
There's  [Am] nowhere  to  go  and  there's [D7] nowhere
     That  she'D  rather [G]  be  [D]  [G]  [D]  [G]  [GaddA]

She's [G] looking  for  lovers and  children  playing
She's  looking  for  signs  of  the [D7sus4] spring
She [G] listens  for  laughter  and  sounds  of   dancing
She  listens  for  any  old  [D7sus4] things

[Am] Fly  Away [D7] , [Am] fly away [D7], fly [G] away [D7sus4]
